Cinema at the Border is the largest screening of films from Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It is the only film event that has taken place in one city for more than two decades, but on two sides of the border – in Polish and Czech Cieszyn. The city divided by the Olza River is linked by the Friendship Bridge, symbolising the idea of the festival. Since its inception in 1999, the aim of Cinema at the Border has been the mutual promotion of Central European cinema on both sides of the border. Film screenings are accompanied by concerts, exhibitions, discussions and meetings with filmmakers and workshops. The rich and original programme of Cinema at the Border and the unique atmosphere of the festival have won the hearts of thousands of fans and been recognised by the film community with numerous awards.
